CCB News Issue 10

Happy April, everyone! We’re well into spring now and the weather is getting warmer (and some days colder) and the rain is coming. Soon we’ll have flowers and butterflies and rainbows and…okay, maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but the weather will definitely get warmer. Flowers are sure to come, and life goes on. We’ll all do our best during the hard times to not get completely mired down, yes?

This month’s newsletter will be a little short–since I don’t have a ton of gossip at the moment. However, there are a few things I would like to draw your attention to, and I want to give you some breaking news that I’ve been holding to for a while now! So, without further ado, let’s do this!

First and foremost, I woud like to remind everyone that we’re two weeks away from having PRIDE AND PUNCTURE (HEAD ROCK HARBOR MYSTERY #3) in audiobook format! Nick Tengrove and his editor are putting the final touches on the story and it won’t be long before we can all listen to his wonderful narration once more! So…keep eyes and ears peeled! I’ll make announcements to my newsletter subscribers and put notices on the website here and on my socials for everyone once the time comes!

Secondly, I would like to draw everyone’s attention to the notice on the Chase Connor’s Books page. With all of the talk of AI and the talk of AI narrators for audiobooks, I would like to make my stance clear on AI and its place in literature. Spoiler alert – aside from spelling and grammar checks, I feel it has no place. However, please give the “Please Note” a read if you want to see my full statement. That stance will not change.

Thirdly (and the last writing news I have at the moment), I recently got word that a book series I’ve been working on will be moving forward with publication! If you are a lover of the JACOB MICHAELS IS… series, and you’re currently enjoying HEAD ROCK HARBOR MYSTERY series, you’ll love what I have planned for my readers!

The SILAS ERIE PARANORMAL SERIES will be debuting towards the end of 2025! I don’t have an exact date yet, but if you’re excited to enjoy more of my quirky characters, unique locations, and enjoy some M/M romance, mystery, and adventure, you’re really going to love this one!

Keep your eyes and ears open in the coming months!

STRIKER V: ELEMENTS OF CHANGE by Josh Vidmar (narrated by Patrick Boylan) – This was a a fresh and exciting take on superheroes. QUEER superheroes. If you’re looking for an action-packed adventure where a queer guy with superpowers saves the world–and has a little romance–this is the book for you! Personally, I felt the romance subplot was unnecessary to the story and added nothing to my enjoyment of the story, it was still a 5-star listen for me. Well written and nothing but hours of fun, I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in the genre.

SUNRISE ON THE REAPING by Suzanne Collins (narrated by Jefferson White) – Ms. Suzanne does not need my help promoting her work. However, this was another 5-star listen for me. It was everything I could have hoped for in Haymitch’s story. If you’ve read the other four Hunger Games novels, then you know how this one goes, essentially–and yet, Suzanne Collins still manages to pull the rug out from under you with each page. Can’t get enough of this series–and I’m dying to see the movie when it comes out!

MURDER ON MILVERTON SQUARE by G.B. Ralph – this was one of those books I’d seen mentioned here and there in the indie writers’ spaces. It looked interesting, I love cozies and mysteries, I love supporting indies, and it kept popping up…so, I decided to finally give it a try. And I’m so glad I did! This was a quaint, cozy little mystery with a queer main character, quirky characters, and the cozy setting of Milverton, New Zealand. My only complaint about this one (though it’s a 5-star read for me) is the narrator. I’ll probably read the other books in the series instead of listen. But that’s a ME problem and has to do with my preferences. If you’re a cozy mystery reader, this is definitely one you’ll want to add to your collection!

Were you aware that every book in my catalog is now back on Kindle Unlimited? If I’ve written it, it’s a book that’s included with Kindle Unlimited. If you have a subscription, you can read any of my books for no additional cost! All I ask is that you leave a review like you would with a book you purchased and read. Throw ya’ boy a bone!

Until next time, make sure you’re following me everywhere you can for all the latest Chase Connor Books news and nonsense!
