CCB News Issue 3

Happy Spooky Season, my reader-friends! We’re officially in October – the most wonderful time of the year!

For those of you who have been with me for a while, you know that October and Halloween are my favorite time of the year. Is it the autumn weather? The beautiful changing of the leaves? Nah. It’s the candy and spookiness! All that other stuff is great (I love a cardigan and chilly, gloomy weather), but…candy.

Seriously though, I love autumn weather. Changing leaves. Cardigans. Baked goods. Gloomy weather. Pumpkin patches. Decorations. I can spend hours in a Spirit Halloween store! Everything about this time of year puts a smile on my face. When you throw in candy and popcorn and scary movies with my husband, it makes it all the sweeter!

As such, this year I decided to celebrate my favorite time of year by thanking my readers with a FREE short story. My first ever short horror story. I’ve dabbled in horror elements before with the Jacob Michaels Is… series, but I’ve never sat down and wrote a story that was intended to be pure thrills and chills.

In the last CCB News, I told you all about DADDY. Well, today is the day. You can download it for FREE here on Chase Connor Books. You can either click here or the picture below. Please be sure to read the trigger warnings first. As this is a FREE short horror story, it’s yours to download, read, and share as much as you like. It won’t be on Goodreads or Amazon to review, so love it or hate it–it’s yours! No takesies-backsies.

I hope you all enjoy it and it starts your Spooky Season off with some chills up your spine!

So, what else is going on in the Chase Connor Books world, you ask? Well, I still have 2 books coming in the near future for your reading pleasure (even if they are not free ones):

TALK TO ME – an LGBTQ+ New Adult (college age) Romance is set for release in December. You can read it about it by clicking here, or clicking on the book cover picture.

The third book in the HEAD ROCK HARBOR MYSTERY series – PRIDE AND PUNCTURE – will drop in February 2025! Click here or on the book cover for more info!

With Halloween on the way – and it being my favorite time of the year – I’m gathering lots of treats for you! The next CCB News will include tons of my favorite spooky ookies and fun things for Halloween for you to enjoy! Scary movies, candies, products, books…it’ll all be in one place for you to get spooky with me. I can’t wait to share the next issue of CCB News with you all!

In the meantime, do you know where all you can follow me online to keep up with the latest news (and other Chase Connor nonsense)?

Twitter – Mostly stuff about coffee, bread, stupid snippets from my silly life.
Bluesky – Twitter lite, honestly.
Instagram – Pictures of food, if I’m being honest. But I throw in some book stuff to prove I’m an author.
Threads – Mostly Twitter and Bluesky repeats, if I’m being honest.
Goodreads – See what I think about books as soon as I’m done reading them! I’ll also answer questions if you submit one. I mean, eventually.
CCB News Notification Sign-Up – Know exactly when I post a CCB News Blog Post by signing up here!
Linktree – If you’re ever unsure where to find anything of mine, this is the best place to start. You can find my socials, latest book release links, sign ups, etc.

Were you aware that every book in my catalog is now back on Kindle Unlimited? If I’ve written it, it’s a book that’s included with Kindle Unlimited. If you have a subscription, you can read any of my books for no additional cost! All I ask is that you leave a review like you would with a book you purchased and read. Throw ya’ boy a bone!

To close out this CCB News, how about some more book recommendations? Here are three books I recently read and thoroughly enjoyed:

I recently discovered this author (who is new to me, but I’m late to the party) – and I’m thrilled to have another cozy(ish) mystery series to enjoy! The “A Miss Fortune Mystery series” by Jana DeLeon is a great series if you’re into the genre.

A CIA agent who has accidentally blown her cover (that’s what happens when you kill a child trafficker with a stilleto when you’re supposed to be undercover) has to hide in the town of Sinful, Louisiana.

With great supporting characters, a great plot, excellent world-building, and plenty of mystery and thrills, I can’t recommend this series enough! I’ve already listened to the first three books!

This is an (audio)book that won’t be for everyone. However, if you love horror with tons of gore, this is one you’ll want to tuck into immediately!

Weird experiments are being done, people are disappearing,nd Michael an, a his husband, Geoff, are traveling to Raven’s Creek to find out what’s been happening.

This is a great read/listen for this time of year – but all the trigger warnings – this one is not for anyone with a weak stomach!

Okay, hear me out. I actually gave this one star on Goodreads. I had to be honest – it’s something new I’m trying when I listen to/read books.

However, that rating was for ME and MY TASTES. After thinking about this, I believe that if you’re someone who likes a slow-burning, unsettling, eerie book, WE USED TO LIVE HERE might be for you.

For me, it wasn’t fast-paced or scary enough. I was kind of bored throughout. Many people like that feeling of being unsettled and spooked out for hours on end without big thrills, though. So…maybe give it a shot?

That’s it for this edition of CCB News! “See” you again on October 18th!

Tremendous Love & Thanks,
Chase
